Art Class Description

Charlotte’s classes are open to all participants wishing to learn from an established figure in the Australian Arts. Charlotte loves getting together with a class of people who are obsessed as she is about painting and beautiful seasonal produce.

Charlotte describes this class as… ” a practical search for solutions in the ‘still life’ genre with an emphasis on composition, tone and colour. You will explore your individual style, ranging from a loose open brush to finely detailed work. You will learn to make big decisions about small things and clear the mind.”

Charlotte’s classes use seasonal fruit, foliage, vegetables, china and linen as the props in her exploration of colour tone and light.

In this class she will also look at the basics arranging the objects on the canvas and the setting out of the painting according to tonal values. From there she will proceed to the careful building up of colour to capture the light that reveals the fleshy essence of the fruit or vegetable.

Charlotte will demonstrate her processes and techniques and her approach will assist each participant to understand the intricacies of this time honoured genre.

At the end of the workshop students will be encouraged to exhibit one or more of their works either for sale or not in an exhibition of the work by the whole class. Local artists and supporters of Art Class Italy will attend the exhibition with a commission payable on any sales to the local gallery.
