Art Class Description

The workshop is open to all levels of artist wishing to learn a unique approach to still life painting from an established figure in Australian Arts.

In her course Amanda will provide insights as to how she gets started in a new environment, drawing and using graphite sticks and looking at composition. She will cover mark making and free drawing in the landscape using mixed media on paper. Students will later develop studies in paint, painting in layers, impasto and palette knife techniques. Amanda will then discuss your work with you up to that point and how to make changes.

Amanda will discuss the possibilities of painting in different light with students for early morning and late afternoon excursions. She will talk about composition and editing at length;  the difficulties in being objective about your own work ;  making corrections and finishing a painting.

Travelling is an important part of Amanda’s art practice and participants will soon come to understand the joy which is experienced from being in a new location , away from the familiar at home.

Students will be amazed at how much progress they can make in 10 days!

At the end of the workshop students will be encouraged to exhibit one or more paintings either for sale or not in an exhibition of the work by the whole class. Local artists and supporters of Art Class Italy will attend the exhibition with a commission payable on any sales going to the local gallery.

If you would like to contact Amanda she is happy to answer any questions about the class.
